Google started rolling out new features in Google Maps for iOS users on Tuesday. The app is now also getting a dark mode on Apple’s mobile devices. In addition, the update adds widgets and iMessage integration.

The update will be rolled out to the various iOS devices in the coming weeks, Google reports in a blog. Dark mode was already available on Android, but now also lets iOS users view the entire app in dark colors. The app already became dark if you entered a tunnel during navigation, for example, but now the interface also turns dark if this mode is chosen.

In addition to the dark mode, the iOS version now also gets special widgets for the home screen. This makes it possible to show the traffic in the vicinity in an overview. Also, a search bar with frequently used locations such as your work and home can be added to the home screen.

Finally, Google announces iMessage integration for Google Maps. Users can now share their location live with a contact with a button in iMessage. Users can set the location to be shared for a period of time or until they stop sharing.
