Google introduces URL to quickly set up Meet meetings

Google has introduced a new way to set up a meeting through the Meet service. Opening a web page immediately starts a new meeting to which anyone can log in.

The new way to start a meeting works by going to the meet.new webpage. Then a new meeting is immediately opened with a new code, which others can use to also join the meeting.

The option to directly set up a video call via meet.new works via the .new domain introduced by Google itself. The internet giant already uses this for its other office software, such as Docs and Slides; a text file or presentation can be started directly via docs.new and slides.new.

Earlier this year, Google made Meet free for anyone with a Google account. Due to the corona crisis, the service quickly gained more users.
