Google gets 43 percent more revenue from YouTube ads

Alphabet, the parent company of Google, recorded 43 percent more revenue from advertising on YouTube in the third quarter of 2021 than in the same period last year. It was $7.2 billion in the past quarter. The company’s total sales increased by 36 percent.

Google Search & other experienced the largest absolute increase this quarter, just like in the previous quarter. Revenue in that ad category rose from $26.34 to $37.93 billion in the quarter. With the Google Network advertisements, Alphabet booked a turnover of 8 billion dollars. In total, Google generated $55.13 billion in advertising revenue, an increase of more than $16 billion compared to last year.

Google Cloud revenue continues to grow and now stands at nearly $5 billion, an increase of 44.9 percent. Yet Alphabet is not yet making any profit with this service; a loss of 644 million was recorded. That is almost half less than a year earlier, but more than the previous quarter; then the loss was ‘only’ 591 million.

The loss at the Other Bets branch has continued to grow over the past year; from $1103 million in the minus to 1288 million. This category includes the sale of Internet and R&D services, as well as licenses. Alphabet has also gained almost 18,000 employees in the past year. The counter is therefore at 150,028.

In the third quarter of this year, Alphabet had total revenues of $65.1 billion. In the third quarter of 2020, the company had a turnover of 46.2 billion. Alphabet had an operating income of more than $21 billion. Compared to last year’s 11.2 billion, a sharp increase, which is mainly due to the fact that profits from Google’s Services branch increased by more than 19 billion to 23.97 billion dollars.
