The gamescom fair in August will probably only take place digitally. Germany has extended the ban on major events until the end of August; gamescom 2020 was set to kick off on August 25.

The exhibition organization says that not all details are known yet, but it does show that the decision to ban major events will affect gamescom 2020 until the end of August. Earlier, the organization already decided to expand the digital parts of the fair. The organization now emphasizes that the digital variant will in any case continue.

The physical event has not yet been definitively cancelled, but due to the measures taken by the German government to contain the spread of the corona virus, a passage of the fair on the planned dates is in any case not possible. The annual gamescom fair is open to the public and attracts many visitors. Last year there were 373,000.

Update, Friday, 11.45: The organization has confirmed that gamescom will not take place physically and will only be held digitally.
