Electronic Arts has appointed Byron Beede as general manager and senior vice president for Battlefield. Beede hails from Activision, where he worked on both the Call of Duty and Destiny franchises.

The move to Battlefield is reported by IGN. EA sees the partnership with Beede as a “strategic move to grow the franchise.” According to IGN, the intention is that Beede will still be involved in the release of Battlefield 6. That game should be released later this year. In addition, a mobile Battlefield game is planned for next year that he would be working on.

Beede has worked on the release of Call of Duty: Warzone and Call of Duty Mobile, among others. He worked for Activision for over 19 years where he started as global brand manager in 2002. Since 2019, he has served as executive vice president and general manager for the Call of Duty franchise. Before that, he had the same role for the Destiny franchise until developer Bungie took the franchise back under his wing.

It is not yet known where Battlefield 6 will take place and when the game will be released. EA will reveal more of the upcoming shooter on June 9.
