Flickr releases app with 360-degree photos for Samsung Gear VR headset
Photo site Flickr has released an app for the Samsung Gear VR headset that allows users to view 360-degree photos in virtual reality. The photo site selects panoramas that have enough resolution for the app.
Tens of thousands of 360-degree photos have been collected, according to Flickr. When opening the app, users are presented with a carousel with possible photos, after which users click on the photo in question. It is then possible to view that photo in high resolution.
The app only works on Samsung’s Gear VR, a virtual reality headset that works with the Samsung Galaxy S6 series in the latest version, while last year’s variant works with the Galaxy Note 4. The smartphone screen forms the screen of the VR glasses. Samsung released its latest VR glasses last month.
