Fitness service Fit from Google is coming to Android

Google has announced the long-awaited fitness service Fit. Coming with the release of the next version of Android, the software integrates information from various sensors and can be used with popular fitness software.

Fit was announced at I/O, where Google announced several innovations for Android on Wednesday. One of the components in the new Android L version is Fit, a health and fitness data collection service. These can be collected from various fitness trackers and sensors. Apps using Fit will have access to the user information stored in the service.

A software development kit will be available soon that developers and businesses can use to integrate Fit into their apps and fitness trackers. According to Google, there is already cooperation with companies such as Nike and Adidas, but also the makers of the popular fitness application Runkeeper.

Earlier, there were already rumors about Google Fit, so that most functions of the service were already known. The service competes with Apple’s Healthkit, which was also recently announced.
