Firmware Update: Synology DSM 7.0.1 build 42218 Update 2

Synology released an update to version 7.0.1 of Disk Station Manager a few days ago, which was quickly withdrawn due to issues. The issue has since been resolved and the update is now available under version number 42218-2. Synology DSM is the management software that runs on several of the company’s NAS products. The Disk and Rack Stations offer more than just extra storage space. For example, additional packages can be installed to allow the device to function as a media server, web server, print server or backup server, for example. The possibilities are endless.

To be able to install version 7.0, at least version 6.2 must be present. Furthermore, it is suitable for certain NAS models whose type number ends with 13 and all models ends with 14 or higher.   • Your Synology NAS may not notify you of this DSM update because of the following reasons. If you want to update your DSM to this version now, please click here to manually update it. Only Synology NAS with DSM 7.0.1 installed can be updated to this version.

  • Fixed an issue where Synology Account might be signed out unexpectedly.
  • Fixed an issue where the user interface response time might be longer when users ran user-defined scripts that included bind mounts.
  • Fixed an issue where the time attribute of files on an exFAT-formatted external storage device was displayed incorrectly.
  • Fixed an issue where there might be unexpected file permission changes in Surveillance Station due to multi-threaded file processing.
  • Fixed an issue where SSD caches might stop functioning when there is insufficient system memory.
  • Fixed an issue where mounting an encrypted shared folder on a Btrfs volume might fail.
