Firmware Update: Panasonic Lumix BGH1 2.0

Panasonic has for its separate Lumix BGH1 new firmware released with 2.0 as the version number. This is a relatively small, largely square microfour-thirds video camera that is, for example, intended for drones, live streams, or filming from a distance. The device is not a traditional camera in the sense that there is a viewfinder or an LCD on the back. Instead, all kinds of accessories can be connected. With the 10.2-megapixel sensor it is possible to record videos in a resolution of 4096×2160 pixels at 60fps, 4:2:0 subsampling with 10bit colors. At 4:2:2 and 10bit, a maximum of 30fps is possible in combination with a resolution of 4096×2160 pixels. Via HDMI, the camera can generate an output of 4096×2160 pixels with 60fps, 4:2:2 subsampling and 10bit colors. The list of changes for this firmware release is as follows:

Version 2.0

  • RAW video data output over HDMI
    • [4K] / [Anamorphic (4:3) 3.7K] 12-bit RAW video data can be output over HDMI. The Apple ProRes RAW can be recorded on Atomos Ninja V. AtomOS v10.63 will be required to support the RAW out function of the Lumix BGH1.
  • IP Streaming capability
    • RTP/RTSP streaming of video and audio (ACC) over wired LAN is possible.

  • SD Memory Card formatting via PC connection
    • It is possible to format the SD Memory Card from the camera menu on the live view display of LUMIX Tether while the camera is connected with the PC.
  • Genlocking status display
    • Synchronization status can be shown on the external monitor connected via HDMI or SDI when the camera is under Genlock synchronization.
  • Other improvement
    • Users can choose to add or not to add camera orientation information in [Vertical Position Info (Video)] menu to prevent unintended image rotation in playback.
