The MP3 players from the iRiver iFP series are equipped with a new firmware, which has been given the version number 1.17. A number of bugs have been fixed again and you can leave your backlight on for longer. The changelog looks like this:

Improved Features

Increased backlight shutdown time (MENU > DISPLAY > BACK-LIGHT)
You can set it up to 30 minutes.
SEC : You can set time from 0 to 30sec
MIN : You can set time from 0 to 30min

Fixed bugs

It used to display P when you press the MODE button while playing synchronized mp3+text files in program mode.

It used to play the next or previous track when you scan within a track while playing synchronized mp3+text files in program mode.

It used to turn off when it skipped to the next track after playing a synchronized mp3+text file in program mode.

It used to play from the spot where the programmed song were stopped before you turn it off.

It resets whenever deleting all program lists when there are many program lists.
(You can delete program list by holding MEMORY/EQ button in Program mode.)

When you are playing a song, then use the NAVI button and select another song you want to reserve it used to start from the spot where previous song was playing. Now it simply reserves a song.
(You can reserve a track by pressing NAVI/Menu -> select a song -> MEMORY/EQ button. It will be playing when the current song finishes.)

It initializes the resumed data when it turns off/on a track if it has over 255 tracks.

The sound was distorted when playing the first MP3 file after loading default and then going from FM to MP3 mode.

The stereo icon was broken when it showed the error message “No more Recording”.

When you rewind a voice-recorded file it used to repeat part of the end of a song.

It used to mal-function when deleting a folder.

When a folder had over 255 files it would not play from the 256th file on.
