Firmware Update: Cowon iAudio S9 2.50

Cowon, the manufacturer of the iAudio media players has already released a new firmware for its S9 media player. The new firmware, version 2.50 has been released today on the Cowon site.

Despite the already stable firmware, quite a few changes have been made in the new version, according to the textual changelog shown below. For example, Cowon has completely changed the UI of the S9. The new menu, as seen at the very bottom, is divided into horizontal planes, which refer to a particular function. Of course, this order can be adjusted, so that the most frequently used functions can be placed at the top. Also the visual changelog of Cowon is worth seeing. It shows what has changed and how it can be used.

In addition to the change in the main menu, Cowon has also made a few improvements in the field of video display and bluetooth communication. This time nothing has changed or improved on the audio support.

By copying the three files, which come as .zip, to the root of the MP3 player and then disconnecting the device from the PC, the player updates to version 2.50 within minutes, which includes the following innovations and improvements: contains:

• Improved sensitivity of button touch.
• Support multi-subtitles in video mode (up to 2)
• Support continuous playback of files on the list without stopping in TV out mode.
• Fixed the error that certain WMV files were not played properly.
• Added function that return to work with Cowon S9 after hanging up cell phone when your Bluetooth device is multi-paired with Cowon S9 and cell phone.
• Fixed the pairing error of Bluetooth with certain digital TV which supports Bluetooth.
• Fixed the error that certain WMA tags were not displayed.
• Fixed the error that certain M3U format was not recognized.
