Firmware Update: Canon EOS R 1.2.0

Canon has for its EOS Rsystem cameras released new firmware with version number 1.2.0. This system camera contains a 30.3 megapixel full-frame sensor and can be equipped with interchangeable lenses via the RF lens mount. The corresponding list of changes looks like this:

Firmware version 1.2.0 includes the following fixes and improvements:

Improvements

  • Autofocus with eye detection
    • Supports Servo AF when taking pictures.
    • Now available when shooting video regardless of the Movie Servo AF setting.
  • Small AF frame size
    • Supports Servo AF when taking pictures.
  • Now available when shooting video regardless of the Movie Servo AF setting.

Solutions

  • Under certain conditions, the digital horizon in the electronic viewfinder was not displayed correctly.
  • Under certain conditions, the information displayed in the electronic viewfinder was not properly rotated.
  • Under certain circumstances, it was not possible to update the firmware for the Wireless File Transmitter WFT-E7.

Improvements from version 1.1.0:

  • Continuous Shootingˈ support available when Silent Shutter’ is enabled.
  • Addresses issue where an error may occur if there are a large number of files in a particular file format on the memory card.
  • Fixes an issue where an error may occur when the silent shutter is enabled.
  • Fixes an issue where horizontal linear noise may occur when using specific lenses in combination with certain image quality settings.
  • Resolves an issue where the information displayed in the viewfinder may have aberrations.
