Firmware Update: Apple Time Capsule and AirPort Extreme Base Station 7.5.1

Apple released an update, versioned 7.5.1, a few days ago for its Fall 2009 Time Capsule and AirPort Extreme. Time Machine is Mac OS X’s built-in backup utility that makes incremental backups of the important documents on the Mac. Hard Drive. You can use a directly connected USB drive, a Time Capsule, or an AirPort Extreme with a USB drive attached. This update is for the latter two combinations and is announced as follows:

About Time Capsule and AirPort Extreme Base Station Firmware Update 7.5.1

This update provides several fixes for the latest Time Capsule and AirPort Extreme Base Station (Late 2009) including:

  • An issue with wireless performance in the 5GHz band
  • An issue with creating a Guest Network in the 5GHz band

It is recommended that AirPort Utility 5.5.1 or later be installed before updating to Firmware version 7.5.1.

Note: This firmware update is for late 2009 AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule only.
