Download Firmware Apple Hard Drive 2.0

Apple has released an update for its MacBook Pro systems equipped with a 7200rpm HDD. This update is called Hard Drive Firmware Update 2.0 and ensures that the hard drive makes less noise. Systems with an installation of Mac OS X 10.5.7 or later can install this update. The corresponding announcement looks like this:

About Hard Drive Firmware Update 2.0

MacBook Pro Hard Drive Firmware Update 2.0 reduces certain infrequent noises made by 7200-rpm drives. These drives shipped with the June 2009 MacBook Pro.

To complete the firmware update process, please follow the instructions in the updater application (/Applications/Utilities/Hard Drive Update.app). The updater will launch automatically when the installation is complete.
