Electronics Arts will remove Battlefield 1943, Battlefield: Bad Company 1 and 2, and Mirror’s Edge from digital stores beginning April 28. Subsequently, the online components of these games will be closed on December 8.

EA reports that the removal of the four games from digital stores means that they are no longer available for purchase and that this is in preparation for the closure of the titles’ online services. Bad Company 1 and 2 and Mirror’s Edge will still be playable, although from the end of this year it will be limited to offline parts such as the single player campaigns.

The publisher says that the Battlefield games and Mirror’s Edge hold a “special place in our hearts,” but that they now look forward to creating new memories. EA says the focus is now shifting to current and future Battlefield experiences.

Battlefield 1943

Battlefield 1943 was the third title in the Battlefield series and was released in 2009 as a digital game for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 only. The shooter focuses on the World War II battle in the Pacific between the Americans and Japan, where among other things, the Wake Island playing field was popular.

Bad Company appeared in 2008 and was followed by part 2 in 2010. Both parts contain a single player campaign with the necessary action and humor, but are also known for the multiplayer part. Thanks to the Frostbite engine, the playing field could be destroyed to a large extent and Bad Company 2 was certainly praised for its graphics, sound and intense action.
