Spread the love

AMD has released new Linux drivers for its ATI Radeon video cards. The download is 96MB in size and can be used for both 32bit and 64bit environments. Version 10.5 is compatible with Radeon HD2400 and higher, the FireStream 9170, 9250 and 9270, and the embedded E2400 and E4690. In addition, versions 6.7 through 7.5 of X.org, Linux kernel 2.6 and above, and glibc versions 2.2 and 2.3 are supported. New in this release is preliminary support for version 11 SP1 of the desktop and server versions of SUSE Linux. The changelog also shows some bug fixes and a short list of known issues that have not yet been resolved.

New Features

  • Support for New Linux Operating Systems
    • SLED/SLES 11 SP1 early look support

Resolved Issues

  • Enabling Hybrid Crossfire™ no longer causes dmesg to report an error after starting X
  • Screen no longer turns blank if the other monitor is unplugged in dual-head mode
  • [RHEL 5.4 x86_64] Kernel panic no longer occurs during system hibernation with PCI cards
  • [PowerXpress] Turning off the discrete card no longer causes the system to report a failure
  • 1080i30 and 1080i25 HDTV modes can now be applied for HDMI/DVI/DP displays
  • The primary display will now have the correct default resolution when multiple monitors, with different size and resolutions, are connected
  • dmseg will no longer report an error during hibernation
  • Resuming from sleep no longer causes the display number overlay to become corrupted

Known Issues

  • Disabling the primary display in clone/dual-head mode may cause Catalyst Control Center not to launch properly after X restart
  • [SUSE 11.2 x86_64] ASIC hang may occur after starting X on specific cards
  • [RHEL4, RHEL5, SLED10] “Size and Position” adjustments might not be retained after X restart or after system resumes from sleep
  • System may fail to display error message when improper values are used in “aticonfig –tv-geometry” resulting in invalid “TVHSizeAdj” and “TVVSizeAdj” values in xorg.conf file
  • “Xorg -probeonly” may cause screen corruption or the system to fail to respond
  • [Catalyst Control Center] Some systems may intermittently stop responding when changing scaling options
  • Segmentation fault may occur when running “Quake 4” and “Enemy Territory: Quake Wars” at 1280×1024 or resolutions higher than current desktop resolution
