DJI has presented the Air 2S, an improved version of the Mavic Air 2. The Air 2S will get a larger 1″ sensor that can record 4k images at 60fps and take 20-megapixel photos. The drone has a slightly shorter 31 minutes. flight time than the Mavic Air 2.

The main difference between the Air 2S and the Mavic Air 2 is that the Air 2S uses a 1″ cmos sensor, as opposed to the 1/2″ sensor of the Mavic Air 2. This larger sensor has a larger 2.4μm pixels and that should provide better image quality than the Mavic Air 2, which has 0.8μm pixels. The Air 2S has a lens with an angle of view of 88 degrees and an aperture of f/2.8.

With that cmos sensor, the Air 2S can shoot 5.4k video at 30fps, or 4k at 60fps. The Air 2S can also zoom in twice as far as its predecessor, with up to eight times digital zoom at 1080p and 30fps. With 4k and 30fps you can digitally zoom in up to four times. Zooming in is not possible with 120fps images, which the drone can record with a resolution of up to 1920×1080 pixels. Users can record in H.264 or H.265 and in various 8bit and 10bit color profiles.

For the connection between drone and receiver, the Air 2S uses the updated OcuSync 3, which has a lower latency than the previous version. With OS3, a maximum range of 8 kilometers between drone and driver is possible within the EU. The drone also gets an improved FocusTrack mode to track people, for example.

Just like the predecessor, the Air 2S will have a 3500mAh battery, although the Air 2S has a flight time of 31 minutes that is 3 minutes shorter. The LiPo 3S battery can be charged with a maximum of 38W. The drone has 8GB of storage and support for a microSD card with a capacity of up to 256GB. When folded, the drone measures 180x97x77mm, when unfolded it is 183x253x77mm. The drone weighs 595 grams and is available for 999 euros.
