Devil May Cry Coming to Nintendo Switch in Summer

Capcom will release the first part of 2001’s Devil May Cry for the Nintendo Switch in the summer of this year. It is not a bundle with other parts from the series, as it already came out for PC and other consoles.

Capcom has in a short message on Twitter No further information has been disclosed, such as an exact release date or a price. It is also unclear whether a separate studio is working on the port for the Nintendo Switch, or whether this is done internally at Capcom.

The fact that Capcom only releases the first part for the Switch is striking, because the Devil May Cry HD Collection has been available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One since last year. That is a bundle of the first three games in the series. Such a bundle was also released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in 2012. The latest title in the series, Devil May Cry 5, was released in March this year, although this game is not available for the Nintendo Switch.

With a Devil May Cry title coming to Switch for the first time, that could mean characters from the game series will make an appearance in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Hideaki Itsuno, the leading figure behind Devil May Cry 5, was asked about this by VG247 in February. He indicated that Devil May Cry has never been released on a Nintendo platform and that it would likely happen before characters like Dante appear in the Nintendo fighting game.
