Developers Release New UI for webOS

The team behind webOS has developed a new user interface design. The software has been released under an open source license and is probably one of the last things to be released by the webOS team.

The new design language is called Mochi and the necessary code has been released on Github, the development team announced. The images show that Mochi gives the webOS a ‘clean’ appearance, with many shades of gray and white.

According to the creators, the Mochi interface is given to the community under an open source license. The development team can no longer take care of further development, but hopes that interest from the community will continue to work on it. The webOS team has released the necessary documentation for this and promises to remain available for advice.

WebOS was acquired some time ago by LG, who wants to use the OS for its televisions. At the time of the acquisition, the development team was already working on Mochi. It is therefore likely that the new interface is the last major update for webOS as a smartphone and tablet operating system.
