Developer working on backup for save games on Nintendo Switch

A developer is testing a program to backup save games on the Nintendo Switch. That is not possible by default, so gamers lose their progress if they reset their console.

Computer technician Bernardo Giordano will put the application to back up save games later this year on his Github, reports Kotaku . Giordano does not say how users can back up their progress, but it probably works with an SD card. That is also the case with Checkpoint, a similar program that the developer made for the Nintendo 3DS.
Making a Checkpoint prototype for the Switch took about two weeks, says Giordano. He has now distributed a beta version of the program to testers and well-known Switch developers, in order to remove bugs before a public release is released.
The Switch does not normally support backup of save games. As a result, players lose their progress in games if they lose the console or reset their console. Nintendo has not yet responded, but does not seem to intend to incorporate this feature into the Switch itself. The Japanese company released its newest console a little over a year ago.
