Debian will probably get RISC-V support with version 13 ‘Trixie’

Debian is working on support for RISC-V devices. The developers say they are working on a port that will probably be released for Debian 13. That distro will not be released as a stable version for about two years.

The developers write that down a mailing list for developers of the distro. For now, the makers say that RISC-V is not yet on the official architecture list. The makers are working on a port for hardware that contains a RISC-V processor with 64bit. The makers say they are making ‘good progress’ with that port.

The makers expect to officially support RISC-V in Trixie, version 13 of the distribution. The official stable version is not expected to be released for about two years, but testers can get started with an unstable version sooner. The developers say that RISC-V support is subject to architectural qualifications, which will not be released until an unknown later date.
