Corsair announced the Neutron XT SSD at CES. The solid state disk is available with storage capacities of 240, 480 and 960 GB. Corsair aims with the Neutron XT SSDs at the top of the SSD market.

The SSDs from the new Neutron XT series contain a quad-core Phison PS3110-S10 controller, while the 19nm MLC flash chips come from Toshiba. Corsair has given the 2.5″ SSDs a form factor of 7mm, but a bracket is included to increase the thickness to 9.5mm.

According to Corsair, the Neutron XT SSDs, which are equipped with a SATA 600 connection, can achieve sequential read speeds of 560MB/s. 540MB/s is specified for writes. The number of iops on random 4kB reads is 100,000, for writes Corsair specifies 90,000 iops. The manufacturer also claims that the wear leveling mechanisms have been improved to increase the life of the SSD. A data protection mechanism is also included in the SSD in case of power failure.

Corsair has not yet announced European prices, but the Neutron XT SSDs with capacities of 240, 480 and 960GB respectively are priced at USD 150, 270 and 540 in the US. Corsair offers a five-year warranty.
