A computer problem at a British air traffic control center has caused massive flight delays. As a result, the airspace around London was temporarily restricted.

The British organization NATS confirms that there is a technical problem at the air traffic control center in Swanwick. NATS is the leading provider of air traffic control services for UK airspace and major airports in the country.

According to the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation, the problem mainly affects London airspace. The organization expects air traffic to experience serious delays as a result of the computer malfunction. Contrary to some reports, the airspace would not be closed and some planes could land at Heathrow while others remain in the air or diverted turn into.
