Details of three new Haswell E processors for high-end systems have surfaced on the internet. It concerns two processors with six cores and a model with eight cores, which should appear in the second half of this year in combination with the X99 chipset.

The cheapest of the three will be the Core i7-5820K, which is expected to retail for less than $400 and offers six cores and a whopping 15MB of L3 cache. However, the amount of pci-e lanes would be limited, Techpowerup notes based on the specifications that Coolaler has published. The most powerful model, the Core i7-5960X, which is likely to be priced around $1,000, combines a slightly slower clock speed than the other two with eight cores and 20MB of L3 cache.

Haswell-E is set to succeed Ivy Bridge-E as the most powerful platform for desktop systems in the second half of this year. All chips will be delivered unlocked, have 140W TDPs and support DDR4. The Haswell-E chipset is X99 and the socket will have a different pin layout compared to the current LGA2011 platform.
