Bowers & Wilkins has released a new version of its wireless PI5 and PI7 earbuds. The new models have a longer battery life and better Bluetooth than their predecessors. There is noise canceling on the earphones, but with differences between the models.
The PI5 S2 and the PI7 S2 are the new models of the wireless in-ear headphones that the audio manufacturer released two years ago. The battery life has been improved in both sets. This is five hours for both, compared to the respective 4 and 4.5 hours of the original PI7 and PI5. With the included case, the caps can be charged for up to 16 and 19 hours. The charging case can also be connected to wired systems, so that users can still listen wirelessly.
The Bluetooth connection of the earbuds has also been greatly improved. According to B&W, the earphones now have a range of 25 meters. The caps also have an IP54 rating and noise canceling, but with the IP5 this is passive and with the PI7 active.
Like the previous models, the PI5 supports aptX. The PI7 supports aptX Adaptive, but the lossless codec is not yet supported. The caps also differ in quality from the speakers. For example, the PI5 does not have a dual driver configuration of the speakers and the PI7 has not two, but three built-in microphones for more sound.
The earphones are available immediately. The PI5 S2 costs 299 euros, the PI7 S2 costs 399 euros.
