Blizzard has announced that the first closed beta of Overwatch 2 will take place at the end of April on PC only. The company says it has decoupled the development of the PvP gameplay system from the PvE system so that the game can be tested more quickly.

In an update page, the developers of Overwatch 2 write that the first closed beta will take place on PC at the end of April and will include an online 5 vs 5 player game mode. It was equally known that Blizzard was going to use this mode instead of 6v6.

Four heroes have been reworked and one extra hero is added, named Sojourn. The first beta will include four new maps and a push game mode. In this game mode, players will have to try to take control of a robot and push it as far as possible into the opponent’s enemy zone. The team that can push the robot furthest into the opposing team’s zone wins the game round. The game also features a reworked ping system.

According to Blizzard, the first closed alpha kicked off today for Blizzard employees, professional players from the Overwatch League and a select group of other players the company had chosen.

Blizzard wants to test new features and content before accepting more players in the next closed beta to help pass the necessary stress tests. Interested parties can register from today on the game’s website.
