Blizzard fixes bug that removed quests from World of Warcraft players

Blizzard says it has fixed a bug that caused players’ quest logs to be deleted once they traveled to a new area. However, getting the quests back can be time consuming and any progression in quests may not be recoverable.

According to Blizzard, quests are no longer removed from the quest log the moment a player enters another zone in the game. You can also log in again, without the risk that all quests have disappeared.

The developer says players can regain any lost quests by going back to the original npc that ordered them, even though they may be in all sorts of different areas. However, it is not clear whether the lost quests can be fully recovered for everyone, without taking a lot of time and effort.

It is also not clear whether the progression of partially completed quests can be restored. A Blizzard employee has advised that it may not be possible to restore partially or fully completed quests, including progression.

This is a bug in the pre-patch, which was released in the run-up to the World of Warcraft: Battle for Azeroth release. The game will be released on August 14, and patch 8.0 has been released in the run-up to that. That caused more problems, for example that it took players with a low-level character even longer to take down opponents. Despite the release of a hotfix, this issue has not been fully resolved.
