BlackBerry briefly showed images and specifications of a new Android smartphone on its site. From this it can be concluded that the model with the name Neon and type designation DTEK50 shows similarities with the Alcatel Idol 4.
BlackBerry has taken the DTEK50 site offline, but it can still be found in the Google cache and Crackberry users were able to download the images in advance. The short appearance of the site indicates an imminent introduction.
The BlackBerry Neon was previously referred to as ‘Hamburg’ but now bears the designation DTEK50. The device has a 5.2 “screen with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. The soc is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617, which is combined with 3GB of RAM and 16GB of storage memory, which can be expanded via an SD memory card.
The camera is a 13-megapixel model with dual LED flash, while the front camera is an 8-megapixel version. The device has a 2610mAh battery and a white LED for notifications. Furthermore, the model runs Android 6.0 with BlackBerry’s own software.
The device shows strong similarities with the Alcatel Idol 4 and BlackBerry seems to have the device made by TCL. The Idol 4 is in the Pricewatch for around 265 euros. When BlackBerry will officially announce the device is not known and whether a second Android smartphone with code name Rome, which was rumored, will also appear, is also not clear.
Update 6.42 pm: BlackBerry has now officially presented the DTEK50.
