BenQ will release a 7.2-megapixel camera called the X720 by the end of next month. According to the company, this would be the world’s thinnest digital camera with a resolution greater than 7 megapixels. The X720 is – depending on the chosen color – only 12.5 to 16.5 mm thick and weighs 120 grams. Furthermore, the camera is equipped with a 2.5 inch large LCD color screen, a lens that can bring objects up to three times closer and functionality to neutralize hand tremors. The X720 is the first in a series of six or seven new models with a resolution greater than 7 megapixels that will be released later this year. BenQ also expects that digital cameras thinner than 11mm will not be available until the fourth quarter of 2007.
