The battle royale-game Fear the Wolves arrives on Steam Early Access on 18 July. This title is a spin-off from Stalker, the shooter from 2007 which, just like Fear the Wolves, plays in the radioactively contaminated area around the nuclear power station in Chernobyl.

The developer of the game, Vostok Games, reports on the Steam page that Fear the Wolves is not only about the fight against 99 other opponents; players also have to deal with mutated creatures such as packs with aggressive wolves, dangerous anomalies, radiation and dynamically changing weather with a day-and-night cycle. Players can get protective clothing to enter the dangerous radioactive zones where the most powerful weapons can be found.
The only map in Fear the Wolves covers 25 square kilometers and becomes the scene for two modes. There is a classic battle royale mode where players parachute on the map and finally have to stay over. If there are still a handful of players left, there must be fighting for a single spot in a helicopter. The person who comes on board is saved from the area and wins the round. The developer reports that there is also a second mode that gives a certain twist to the genre, but no details have yet been published.
The new mode and a number of other elements from the game will only be available within a few months. The game is now in a beta phase. According to the developer, the game is stable, but there are still some bugs and now a number of features are missing. The price of the game has not yet been announced. Somewhere in 2019 the game must come from Early Access and console users can also play the game.
