Aya Neo is going to announce a new Windows gaming handheld on December 28. The company claims it will feature a “new generation AMD cores for gamers.” Perhaps the manufacturer is referring to an APU of the Rembrandt generation.

In an announcement speaks Aya Neo about High-performance AMD cores and “innovations never seen before in Windows gaming handhelds.” The manufacturer has so far released gaming handhelds with the AMD Ryzen 5 4500U and Ryzen 7 4800U. These are laptop processors with Zen2 cores and a Vega GPU.

AMD is rumored to announce the Rembrandt generation of APUs for laptops at CES early next year. Those would be processors with Zen3 + cores and an RDNA2 GPU, which are made at 6nm. It is obvious that Aya Neo will use such a chip for a new version of its handheld console.

So far, Valve’s Steam Deck is the only announced gaming handheld to feature a GPU with AMD’s RDNA2 cores. Inside that device is a custom apu that was specially developed for Valve, with Zen2 cores and an RDNA2 GPU.

The current Aya Neo handhelds with Ryzen 5 and 7 cost at least 925 and 1215 dollars. Valve sells its Steam Deck for prices starting at $399, but Valve has indicated that the hardware will be sold below cost.
