Following Acer, Asus has also postponed its 4k monitor with HDR support, g-sync and a 144Hz refresh rate to next year. The screen should have been released in the third quarter of this year.

Asus has confirmed to PC Gamer that the PG27UQ monitor, like the Acer Predator X27, will be released later than expected. Asus, like Acer, does not mention a reason for the delay and a new release date has not been set either. Acer talked about the first quarter of 2018.

The Asus PG27UQ was announced at the beginning of this year at the CES fair. The screen would be equipped with a backlight with 384 zones and a maximum brightness of 1000cd/m2 to enable HDR playback. Asus mentioned a price of 1199 dollars at the introduction, converted with VAT about 1234 euros.

AnandTech notes that both monitors use an ahva panel from AU Optronics. So far, only Acer and Asus have announced monitors with this M270QAN02.2 panel. It is the only panel that combines features such as 4k resolution and HDR with a high refresh rate and g-sync support. According to the website, mass production of the panel should have started in July, but that schedule may have been delayed.
