Aston Martin and Triton Submarines have this week announced the successful completion of the design phase for the Project Neptune. It is also the start for the construction of the first production model which will be unveiled later this year.

Since the announcement of the special collaboration in September 2017, Aston Martin and Triton have worked together to refine the detailed design of the Neptune, a futuristic “ submarine car ” because you can not say that the Neptune even looks like a boat in the furthest distance.

This week also the latest technical specification of Project Neptune was announced. It was confirmed that the submarine can dive to a depth of 500 meters and can carry two passengers and a pilot. Partly due to the reduction of the frontal area (at the front), this ‘underwater’ Aston Martin now has a speed of more than 5 knots.

Marek Reichman, Aston Martin EVP, and Chief Creative Officer: “ The exterior design of Project Neptune owes a lot to the pursuit of performance. As with the Aston Martin Valkyrie, the hyper-car we are developing with Red Bull Advanced Technologies, we have afforded as much attention to the hydrodynamics of the underside as we have the visible surfaces. Some of that detail may never be seen, but its effect will certainly be felt “.

Project Neptune will be released later this year and it is now known that a maximum of twelve copies are built each year.
