Archos comes with two new budget smartphones

Archos has announced two new budget smartphones that run on Android 4.4. The 45c Platinum offers a 4.5″ screen, while the 50b Platinum features a 5″ touchscreen. Both phones have a quad-core soc from Mediatek.

The 4.5″ screen, an IPS panel, of the 45c Platinum has a resolution of 854×480 pixels. The phone runs on a Mediatek MT6582, a quad-core soc clocked at 1.3GHz. There is 512MB of RAM, along with 4GB of flash storage.The storage capacity can be increased via a microSD card of up to 64GB.

The 45c, which runs on Android 4.4.2, supports 3g networks, bluetooth and wifi. Two mini-sims can be placed in the device. There is a 5-megapixel camera on the back and a 2-megapixel camera on the front. The battery offers a capacity of 1700mAh.

Although the hardware of the 50b version is largely the same, this variant in the Platinum series from Archos has a larger screen. The 5″ touchscreen, also an IPS copy, has a resolution of 960×540 pixels. The battery is also more powerful with 1900mAh and the 8-megapixel camera has an LED flash. Archos provides two extra covers with this phone, an 8GB microSD card. card and screen protector.

The 45c Platinum will have a price tag of 109.99 euros. Archos asks for the 50b Platinum 149.99 euros.
