Apple tests login to website with Face ID or Touch ID
Apple lets users sign in to iCloud.com via Face ID or Touch ID. That’s only possible with a device running iOS 13 or macOS Catalina, the new versions of the operating systems currently in beta.
The login works on the domain beta.icloud.com, 9to5Mac reports. The site recognizes from which device the user comes and with which iCloud account he is logged in. It is then possible to log in to the iCloud site in this way. The login works without the Sign In With Apple button, but with a window that requires the user to click ‘Continue’.
The feature may be part of Sign In With Apple, the login method that will come in iOS 13 and Catalina. Until now, Apple didn’t mention that the platform also allows logging into websites with biometric authentication.
Apple has not yet commented on the find. Catalina and iOS 13 are currently in beta and will be released in stable versions in October and September, if the manufacturer sticks to its usual schedule. A new version of iOS usually appears a few days before the new iPhones hit stores, in September, while macOS versions often follow a month later.
