Apple releases iOS 9.3
Apple will release iOS 9.3 for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch on Monday. The new version of the mobile operating system includes the Night Shift function, which can limit blue light on the screen at night to promote sleep.
The release of iOS 9.3 comes as no surprise, as Apple had already distributed several test versions. The manufacturer mentions Night Shift as the most important function. In addition, users have the option to have the screen emit less blue light after sunset. That should look more comfortable and promote sleep. This has been possible for years with apps such as f.lux via jailbreaks. Night Shift does not work on all iOS devices. Users of an iPhone 5 and 5c, among others, will not find the function.
In addition, the Notes app will have the option to protect notes with a password or fingerprint. More options for device management have also been added. Among other things, the Home Screen Layout Payload can be adjusted from iOS 9.3. This payload defines the layout of apps, folders, and website shortcuts on the home screen.
Starting Monday evening, Apple will offer iOS 9.3 as an update for any iOS device that can run iOS 9. These include the iPhone 4s or later, iPad 2 and later, and the fifth and sixth generation iPod touch.
