Apple has released the first beta of iOS 15.2. This test version adds the App Privacy Report, among other things. This is an overview that shows, for example, which apps collect which data.

Apple announced its App Privacy Report for iOS earlier this year and is now making it available in iOS 15.2. The company reported at the time that the overview shows which permissions apps have and how often they have used them. For example, the feature can show how many times a particular app has requested access to users’ location data, camera, microphone, contacts, and photos.

The privacy overview also shows which domain names an app contacts and how often that happens. Information about data collection remains in the privacy overview for seven days. Users can find the App Privacy Report in the iOS settings, under ‘privacy’.

iOS 15 already has a feature to capture such app activity, but currently this data can only be exported as a JSON file. With the Privacy App Report, iOS gets an actual interface that makes it easier to view the data from this feature.

MacRumors reports that the notification digest is also getting an update in iOS 15.2. This will have a design with ‘cards’ that should make it easier to see exactly which notifications are in the summary. The Emergency SOS function would also receive minor innovations. The countdown for an emergency call is now eight seconds, where it was previously three seconds. This is to prevent users from calling an emergency number if they accidentally turn on the feature.
