Apple is going to remove vaping apps from the App Store. According to the company, smoking such e-cigarettes is dangerous to health and no longer wants to offer such apps. It would be about 181 apps that disappear from the App Store.
Apple has already acted against apps around vaping by not allowing new apps if they promote vaping. Now all other vaping apps are being removed from the App Store, the company says to Axios . It was also for some time prohibited to sell vaping cartridges directly from apps. The apps that are now being removed therefore mainly have to do with vaping on the side. This concerns applications that, for example, bring news about the subject, games, or apps that users could use to find nearby stores where they could buy cartridges. There were also apps that users could link to their electronic cigarettes and with which, for example, the color or temperature could be regulated.
Research from the US Center for Disease Control recently revealed that at least 42 people had died as a result of vaping. Other health organizations also warn about the risks of electronic cigarettes. “We endorse that and update the terms and conditions of the App Store, as a result of which apps that encourage or facilitate the use of these products are no longer allowed,” Apple tells Axios. “The App Store is a trusted place for customers and certainly for young people to download apps.”
