Jonathan Zdziarski joins Apple’s Security Engineering and Architecture team. He makes this known on his blog. The expert has published several times in recent years about security vulnerabilities and backdoors in iOS.

In his blog post, Zdziarski says he is excited to be working with a group of people who are passionate about protecting people’s privacy. “Privacy is sacred,” he says. Apple has not disclosed information about the appointment of the security expert.

Zdziarski is a well-known security researcher who, among other things, published information about possible backdoors in iOS 7 and managed to bypass the iOS 8 passcode. Last year he discovered that it is possible to recover parts of deleted WhatsApp chats.

He was frequently in the news in the case of unlocking the iPhone of the perpetrator of the attacks in San Bernardino. He argued that the FBI has enlisted the help of a third party to unlock the phone.

Zdziarski regularly posted critical comments on Twitter about services that compromise privacy or security. That did he talked about selfie service Meitu in January. His Twitter account is no longer active.
