Apple apologized in a statement to business newspaper The Wall Street Journal for problems users had with the keyboard with last year’s MacBook Pro. It is the third generation MacBook Pro that presents typing problems.

Users complain about letters like ‘e’, ’r’, ‘w’ and ‘t’ that the laptop occasionally double registers, writes The Wall Street Journal. Apple acknowledges the problem and apologizes to users who are affected by it. The manufacturer emphasizes that this concerns a relatively small number of cases. “The majority of users have had a positive experience with the keyboard,” according to the manufacturer’s statement.

MacBook Pros from 2016 and 2017 already suffered from problems, so Apple launched a repair program. In addition, last year’s MacBook Pro got an extra layer to keep out dusts, which seem to be the culprits. That extra protection does not seem to be sufficient to free the keyboard from problems.

The mechanism of the keyboards allows MacBooks to be thinner. The new version of the MacBook Air also has such a keyboard, so Apple does not sell recently announced models with a different keyboard.
