Apple has announced that the next Apple event will take place on Tuesday, November 10. According to the invitation, “one more thing” will be presented. It can hardly be otherwise than that it concerns new Macs. But which?

First Macs with Apple Silicon

Apple announced this summer that it will switch to its own chip based on energy-efficient ARM architecture: Apple Silicon. It was already indicated that the first Macs with this processor will be for sale this year. According to Bloomberg, the MacBooks will get the scoop: it would be a new 13-inch MacBook Pro, a 16-inch MacBook Pro and a 13-inch MacBook Air.

With these MacBooks, Apple is making the switch to the Apple Silicon chip. Are you hoping for MacBooks with a different design? Then we have to disappoint you, because nothing will change at all. We will see a newly designed MacBook Pro in 2021 at the earliest.

Transfer completed within two years

The new Macs that Apple will announce on November 10 will receive a powerful and energy-efficient chip based on the A14 chip of the new iPhone 12. Meanwhile, Apple is also working on a redesigned iMac and a smaller Mac Pro with Apple Silicon. These desktop devices are more powerful, so it takes a little more effort to make the switch. That is why Apple needs more time for this.

Apple plans to phase out the Intel chips completely. The switch to Apple Silicon must be completed within two years: all Macs will have an Apple Silicon chip. For the iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, Apple has been using its own chips for some time.
