An animated Mortal Kombat movie will be released this spring. The full-length film will be available for purchase on Blu-ray, DVD and digital format. The animated film is about a battle tournament between the Outworld and Earthrealm.

The animated film seems to be largely inspired by the Mortal Kombat game from 2011. In turn, that game again contained elements from the original trilogy from the 1990s. Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge features a number of voice actors known from the games. For example, Patrick Seitz is responsible for the voice of Scorpion; he did the same with the 2011 game.

A number of voice actors who are known from Mortal Kombat 11 also participate in the animated film, but they speak other fighters. David B. Mitchell, who plays Geras and Sektor in MK11, speaks for the film Raiden. Ike Amadi, in MK11 the voice of Shao Kahn and Cyrax, will provide the texts of Jax Briggs for the upcoming film.

An exact release date for the Mortal Kombat animated film has not yet been announced. According to the trailer, the film will be released in the spring. Meanwhile, Warner Bros. worked on another Mortal Kombat movie, with real actors. That film should be released in March 2021.
