Angry Birds creator Rovio is laying off 130 people, about a sixth of its staff. That is what the Finnish company itself says. The layoff is necessary because the company has not grown as fast as it had expected.

In a statement, Rovio director Mikael Hed said the layoffs are necessary to rekindle the company’s growth. “It’s better to do it sooner than later.” As a result, 130 of the 780 jobs at Rovio will be lost, about one sixth of the entire workforce.

The Finnish game developer gained fame with Angry Birds and has since released many variants and other games. The company also released merchandise featuring characters from the game and created an animated series. The game developer has been around since 2003 and is headquartered in Espoo, Finland.
