According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple is currently working on six products that will have an LCD with mini LED backlight. The analyst also mentions a MacBook Pro 14.1 “and the arrival of an iMac with mini LED screen for the first time.

Kuo reports in his latest report that Apple is working on six products that will have an LCD with mini LEDs, MacRumors writes. It has been predicted for some time that Apple will use screens with mini LED backlights in MacBooks and iPads, but for the first time Kuo now also mentions a MacBook Pro with a 14.1 “screen and an iMac Pro.

That 27″ version of the iMac Pro is due to be released in the fourth quarter of 2020. It is not clear how many LEDs will make up the backlight of the new version. Monitors with mini LED backlights are quite thick so far. Configurations with thousands of LEDs also have extra space required for heat dissipation.

In addition to the iMac Pro and MacBook Pro models with mini LED backlight, Apple would put such a screen in three of its iPads. Kuo also mentions the arrival of a new iPad mini, which should be released this year. The analyst does not mention any release dates for the other products, but it concerns products that should be released this year and next year.

Last year, Kuo spoke for the first time about Apple products that get a mini LED backlight. The analyst is known for his information on unannounced Apple products. Kuo said at the time that the iPad Pro and MacBook Pro will get screens with 10,000 mini LEDs in 2021.
