Analogue will begin shipping existing pre-orders for its Pocket handheld, which supports Game Boy cartridges, starting December 13. The manufacturer reports this in a blog post. The first copies will be delivered to the recipients in the following weeks.

Manufacturer Analogue reports in a blog post that the Pocket will ship from December 13, but recipients can expect to receive their pre-ordered handheld sometime between December 14 and 30. According to the company, that delivery time is due to an ‘unprecedented crowd’ at parcel services.

Because of that wide delivery window, the company also gives its customers the option to postpone their delivery until after the holidays. Buyers who are unable to receive their Pocket between December 14 and 30 may choose to delay their shipment until “after January 3, 2022.” Users can request this by email from Analogue customer service. That is possible until November 28. Until that date it is also possible to change the delivery address and cancel existing pre-orders.

Analogue already announced its Pocket handheld in 2019. At the time, the handheld was planned for 2020, but was later postponed several times to December 2021, which has now been concretized to December 13. The device costs 200 dollars, which, converted and including VAT, amounts to approximately 214.87 euros. The Pocket is currently sold out and Analogue is not accepting new pre-orders at the time of writing.

The Analogue Pocket is a retro handheld that allows users to play original Game Boy and Game Boy Advance cartridges. The Pocket doesn’t use emulation for that, but instead has two fpga chips. One is used for playing cartridges and the other allows developers to port their own software to the Pocket.

An optional dock will also be available that will allow the Pocket to be connected to a television, and Analogue is working on adapters for Atari Lynx, Neo Geo Pocket Color and Sega Game Gear games. The device features a 3.5″ ltps LCD with a resolution of 1600×1440 pixels, and thus has a pixel density of 615ppi. The handheld will also run Analogue OS, an operating system that Analogue makes for its own retro consoles.
