Lenovo now comes with a roll-out widescreen laptop

Lenovo has been teasing and showing laptops (and even a smartphone) with a roll-out screen for years now. Usually vertical, but it seems the brand is planning to present a computer with a screen that rolls out to the outside at CES, the major tech fair held annually in Las Vegas.

Lenovo Legion Pro Rollable

So you will soon be able to game in widescreen. At least, the image shared by Windows Latest shows a large Rocket League screen. Furthermore, a screen that can be widened seems ideal for watching films and series. It is also an OLED screen, so you can expect high-quality results. Unfortunately, we do not have any further specifications for the device; only this photo has been leaked (and is therefore not officially from Lenovo). In any case, the screen will have a 21:9 aspect ratio when fully rolled out. It goes left and right equally, so the laptop must remain well-balanced. The device is called Lenovo Legion Pro Rollable. It is also marketed as a gaming laptop, which implies that it also comes with high specifications – but that is to be expected, at a high price tag. If it becomes a commercially available device, it is of course also possible that Lenovo will stick to a prototype for a while. We are curious what we can expect from the battery life of this laptop: after all, there is quite a lot that it has to do. Unfortunately, we don’t know anything else: no refresh rate, no processor, nothing yet, but it is also something that we will hopefully hear from Lenovo itself during CES.

Deployable laptops from Lenovo

There is already a commercially available laptop with a rollable screen. That is the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6. It has a built-in mechanism that raises your screen. For example, if you type a long story and still want to keep an overview, you have more ‘meters’ on your screen to tap. It is also helpful for those who often visit very long sites where you have to scroll a lot (that’s true of many websites these days since infinite scrolling is the trend). The ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 is likely to cost 3000-3500 euros and will soon be available in Europe. It seems to us that this Lenovo Legion Pro Rollable goes a step further.
