AMD lowers suggested retail price for Ryzen processors

AMD has announced a reduction in the suggested retail price for its existing Ryzen processors. This mainly concerns price drops for the Ryzen 7 and Ryzen 5 processors. AMD is making these changes to better compete with Intel’s eighth-generation Core processors.

For example, the suggested retail price of the Ryzen 7 1800X drops from the introductory price of $ 499 to $ 349. The Ryzen 7 1700X goes from $399 to $309. The cheapest Ryzen Threadripper processor, the 1900X, will be $100 cheaper and will be priced at $449, TechCrunch reports based on an AMD announcement.

The other Threadripper processors, such as the 1920X and the 1950X, keep their old price. The price drops for the Ryzen 5 processors are relatively smaller than those for the Ryzen 7. For example, the price of the Ryzen 5 1600 drops from 219 to 189 dollars.

The new prices would have been passed on to distributors, importers and web stores at the end of last week, Hardware.info reports. That means the declines are likely to be implemented soon. This already seems to be the case with the Ryzen 7 1800X; according to the Pricewatch, the price has already fallen well below 400 euros.
