AMD has announced Ryzen 3. This processor series includes the entry-level models in the Ryzen series, which have four cores without SMT. In addition, the Bristol Ridge APUs will be on the shelves and the manufacturer has announced that it will sell its Wraith Max cooler separately.

Ryzen 3, like Ryzen 5 and 7, is made up of two ‘core complexes’, with a total of four cores disabled, leaving four functional cores left. Those cores are not equipped with SMT, but do not differ from the Ryzen 5 and 7 processors. For example, there is a total of 8MB L3 cache and 512Kb L2 cache per core. Both processors can also use AMD’s xfr, with the Ryzen 3 1200 being able to overclock itself 50Mhz, up to 3.45GHz. The xfr clock of the 1300X processor is somewhat wider and runs up to 3.9GHz.

In addition to Ryzen processors, AMD also announced the availability of Bristol Ridge processors. Until now, those processors were only available in China and for OEMs. Bristol Ridge includes processors in the A series, with built-in GPU, and Athlon processors without IGP. AMD adds three more to the list of processors that had already been announced; the A6-9550, the Athlon X4 970 and the Athlon X4 940. Nothing is known about the availability of those three processors yet, the other Bristol Ridge processors must be for sale immediately.

Finally, AMD has announced that it will sell its Wraith MAX cooler separately. The cooler, which is equipped with RGB LEDs, is only included with the Ryzen 7 1700X and 1800X, but according to AMD, the cooler was in high demand from users with other processors. That is why the manufacturer has decided to switch to individual sales. According to AMD, the cooler fits sockets AM4, AM3+ and FM2+, but will also fit older sockets given the mounting with clips. The Wraith Max will be available ‘soon’ for an unknown price. The Ryzen 3 1200 processor will cost 119 euros, while the 1300X will be sold for 139 euros. Both CPUs are for sale immediately.
