Zoox, the company that makes self-driving cars owned by Amazon for three months, has permission to test self-driving cars on specific roads in California. It can do that without a person having to sit in the car.

Zoox has permission to unleash two self-driving cars on specific streets around Zoox headquarters. That lies between San Francisco and Silicon Valley. Zoox may use its self-designed car for this. It is fully electric and has steering wheels front and rear, as can be seen on the Zoox website.

Amazon acquired six-year-old Zoox in June for a reported amount of more than a billion euros, making its entry into the self-driving car market. The competition there consists of companies like Alphabet company Waymo, Uber, Tesla, Lyft and more.
