Amazon has announced a new Oasis model in its Kindle line of e-readers. The new e-reader distinguishes itself with the possibility to adjust the color temperature of the lighting of the e-paper screen for a warmer image.

Thanks to the option to adjust the ‘warmth’ of the lighting, users can set the image to white, amber or somewhere in between. In addition, the number of LEDs for the lighting has been increased from twelve to twenty-five and the new Oasis weighs about 6 grams less than its predecessor from 2017.

The e-reader still has a Paperwhite screen with a diagonal of seven inches and a pixel density of 300 ppi. There is also support for WiFi-n, Bluetooth and USB 2.0. The Oasis is waterproof to IPX8, which means it can survive submersion to a depth of two meters for sixty minutes, according to Amazon. The lighting can automatically adjust to ambient light.

Amazon will start sales on July 24. The 8GB version will then cost 230 euros and the 32GB variant 260 euros. Anyone who also wants 4g with his 32GB model pays 320 euros. With the arrival of the tenth generation, the price of the ninth generation drops to 200 euros.
